REVIEW: JACKASS: BEST & LAST
THE GIST
I like this film and the Jackass franchise but I am glad it’s over.
I still think they should have ended it on the 3rd film.
THE REVIEW
***SPOILERY***
EXPECTATIONS
I like the Jackass films but I am glad this was gonna be the last one. I think they should have ended with the 3rd one.
I have heard this has a lot of clips revisiting past movies which I am not over the moon about. I wanna see new stuff. If they do it right though it could be a well done nostalgic end to the franchise.
We’ll see!
RATINGS SO FAR
Current ratings would indicate it should have been called Jackass: Second Best & Last.
CONTEXT
On November 6, 2025, Steve-O said that they had a number of Zoom calls to discuss the 25th anniversary of Jackass. "What we landed on was a bit more ambitious than timely, but this next year, we're likely to see the Jackass franchise rear its ugly head", he said. Johnny Knoxville announced the film on his Instagram account on January 8, 2026. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on January 15, 2026, he said that he cannot do any stunts that can lead to a concussion anymore, as in Jackass Forever (2022), he got a broken rib, a broken wrist, a concussion, and brain hemorrhage during a stunt with a bull.
Steve-O said on his podcast that the movie will be a mix of old and new footage. He also said the movie will serve as a celebration of the entire franchise, bringing back the best bits of the TV show and previous movies, along with brand new ones, and never-before-seen footage. Bam Margera, who was fired from the production of Jackass Forever, only appears in the new movie through archived footage. Margera later said that he did not want to film new scenes for the film, but gave permission for them to use his old and unused footage.
Knoxville confirmed that this is the last Jackass film. "This is the natural place to end", he said. He also said that this movie will not have a .5 sequel, making this the second Jackass film without a .5 version, after Jackass: The Movie (2002).
THE PLOT
Follows the Jackass crew as they perform their final series of dangerous stunts and pranks, marking the end of the franchise.
THE EXPERIENCE
It was like meeting friends from the past who you used to drink a lot and do stupid stuff with. They ask you to come hang out and you keep saying no but they don’t give up. You reluctantly give in and over the time of the encounter, actually enjoy it and have a great night. But at the same time, you are thinking to yourself “I’m so glad I don’t do this anymore, I can’t wait to get back to my life”. But with poo. A lot more poo lol.
THE MEAT
A send off to Johnny Knoxville?: Is Johnny Knoxville fatally sick or something? I hope not, but he was the only one who was emotional and I can’t help but think the confident finality of the franchise with this film is because it will be impossible for him to star in another one. I know he can’t have another concussion and what not but something just felt off. This felt like a send off to Johnny Knoxville more than a final Jackass film.
Old Clips: Was it good to see old Jackass clips? Not really. I mean I found them funny but I have seen them many times before. I go to the cinema to see new stuff.
The OG’s: This focussed more on the OG crew which was great but I was surprised how little they used the new ones. They were usually just on the sidelines and in the background.
The Future?: I can’t help but think the newer crew will turn up in something with a different name but with the same spirit of Jackass. The odd OG Jackass crew member may turn up from time to time. I don’t know.
But does something really need to fill the gap Jackass will leave?
SUMMARY
Yeah I actually enjoyed myself.
I laughed out loud at the new stuff.
I laughed again at the old stuff.
It was another Jackass film.
