MovieMe: What Is It?
Yes, everyone has an opinion about movies they watch.
Yes, anyone can write or do on camera reviews.
Yes, they can be a dime a dozen.
So why add to the plethora of folks doing exactly the same thing?
Because I want to.
Because I enjoy it.
I am not doing it for views or to make money. Although it would be nice to make enough to at least cover my expenses.
I initially tried making video reviews but I am a behind the camera kind of guy. Not a talker. Not one for being the centre of attention. I have a monotone and deep voice and upon playback I almost put myself to sleep 😂 Pretending to be outgoing or charming is exhausting and I have pretended to be someone else too much in life already. I want whatever I put out there to be genuine.
So I started writing instead. I struggle to express myself so that needed working on. I also struggled finding words to describe things. My first attempts were just repeating the same words over and over but my vocabulary grew over time, sometimes with disastrous results. I double check now that when I use a word, that I actually know the meaning and am not just assuming I do.
MovieMe was originally a Movie Marathon suggestion website first, and a blog/review section as a secondary thing. But that was a lot of work I could not keep up with and AI will probably do a way better job in the not to distant future. So the blog/review part became the main thing. AI can’t take that away from me. At least I hope it can’t 😂
So I have done 32 written reviews in 6 months, averaging about 5 per month. I have learnt to express myself a bit better and grown my descriptive vocabulary. Over the next 6 months I want to expand on those plus get deeper into breaking down the more technical and cinematic aspects of movies.
By the end of 2026 I hope to:
Have at least 60 written reviews under my belt.
Be comfortable enough to tell others I do reviews.
Have the confidence to maybe start doing video reviews. I just want to reiterate, I said “maybe”.
By the end of 2027 I hope to:
Be at the level of reviewing I want to be.
Have at least 120 written reviews under my belt.
At least have some attempts of video reviews. If successful, more video reviews and less written ones but still a mix of both.
Hopefully getting enough income to at least pay for itself.
My expectations aren’t grandiose. I’m not out here claiming to be an amazing reviewer. I am just planning to be the best I can be at it and have fun at the same time. I am learning a craft which I expect will take another 18 months of growth before I can say “I’m a movie reviewer”. Even if it’s just to myself.
So thanks for reading. I hope my reviews are somewhat interesting and informative. If not, I will get better, hopefully 😂
At the moment, I am the only contributor, but that may change over time.
AI helps with the artwork but the writing is all human.
Cheers, Adam
